Having lived experience in the mental health system, I understand how overwhelming it can be to find the right therapist. First and foremost, I am here to hold space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a way that is meaningful to you. I provide services to individuals and couples from all backgrounds who are experiencing emotional dysregulation, interpersonal challenges, and overwhelming difficulties. By using an integrative approach, we will create a therapeutic plan that is unique to your needs. Working from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens, we will identify possible areas for growth while navigating the impact of the larger systems you are a part of.
Our first session will focus on getting to know each other and ensuring that the therapeutic space I am offering is a good fit for you. This space that I hope to build together will be one of validation, non-judgement, and genuineness. As we move forward through therapy, we will continue to evaluate and adjust our approach as your needs shift.
My clinical work is trauma-informed and relationally oriented. My therapeutic approach is integrative, incorporating relationships and attachment; depth-oriented processing; experiential and somatic techniques; and DBT. I strive for flexibility and collaboration, and am open to exploring alternative treatment methods for each client’s unique needs.

OVERSENSITIVE - OVERTHINKER – OVERDOER – OVERGIVER: Are you suffering with emotional pain, burnout, worry or STRESS SO HEAVY you have trouble clearing your mind? Whether it's feeling anxious, trapped, or detached – misery finds you overscheduling; people pleasing; hyper fixating on the "right way"; comparing to others; numbing out - whatever helps you escape what's weighing you down..
I’m skilled at supporting adults burdened with the HEAVY-LIFE-STUFF, layers of emotional injuries left by harsh experiences, trauma, mental abuse, life transitions or detaching from fellowships / groups that just don't align for you anymore.
Together we cultivate a SHAME-FREE space to help you find new perspective; deconstruct adversity; heal trauma; build self awareness and give you practical skills to help you regulate through your therapeutic journey.
I'm a First generation Canadian with immigrant parents from wildly different cultures. I had a super confusing childhood with two origin ethnicities, languages and traditions - all while trying to fit in with my Canadian born peers.
Today I'm a proud dual citizen and resident of the Czech Republic, where I live immersed in Czech culture for lengthy periods from 2018 to date. My mother is Trinidian and though my exposure is less in depth - I do have the diverse experience of growing up with my island Mummy, her strict Catholic upbringing and rich West Indies culture.
ALSO.. Yep - Totally queer and proud! I've got lived experience of mental health and addiction issues + long term sobriety. I spent 10 years immersed in *and* 2 years deconstructing from - a spiritually based, high control group.

Pause. Feel. Tune in. Welcome the triggers and feel into alignment with your true self. Your heart knows the way. Leigh strongly believes that when we can go inward and create space to know and turn towards our true self, that this provides the ultimate platform for healing to take place. In her work with each client she strives to provide a safe space that fosters this intuitive ability for growth and healing. One that brings you closer to your authentic self and awakens a felt sense of inner alignment. At the same time, Leigh holds high regard for the energetic presence that she brings to each session. This involves an empathic, trauma-informed and non-judgemental approach that is accepting and genuine with each client.
Leigh is a Mom to two little souls who are currently her biggest teachers. She completed education and training with The University of Toronto and in 2010 achieved her Master of Social Work degree. For over 15 years she worked in various community and health care settings with vulnerable sector populations and has been running her private practice since 2016. At which time, she also obtained a diploma from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in holistic nutrition. When Leigh is not working you will find her spending time with her family, out in nature, doing yoga or dance, playing in the kitchen, or cozying up with meditation, creative writing and a chai latte.
This journey is particularly for those who feel at the whim of their emotions~ whether disconnected, alone, anxious, overwhelmed, sad or stressed; and who have a strong desire to shift their relationship to Self. There are often experiences of self-doubt, self-criticism, and a strong desire to feel better, to feel good enough. Patterns of using food (perhaps unknowingly) to cope and feel better may also exist. Leigh is a client-centred practitioner that see’s each client as the expert of their own experiences, and honours the strengths that each client carries within them. She works with conscious intention to see and hear you where you are today as you move collaboratively through therapy and towards desired goals.
Leigh uniquely offers holistic nutrition services alongside use of best-practice modalities, including acceptance and commitment (ACT), solution-focused (SFT), emotion-focused (EFT), cognitive-behavioural (CBT), dialectical-behavioural (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based therapies, including mindful emotional eating (MEE). She also weaves informed somatic and Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches into her practice. Leigh believes that it is important to understand what is at the root of our problems, and can integrate nutrition to support and enhance biological, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness. "The more we give our inner voice a platform to be our guide, the more we generate feelings of inner worth and trust that we are enough." ~ Leigh

Whatever comes up during our sessions, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have been a witness to it, and I can tell you it is healing. The important element in my sessions is that we have trust and a connection to work together. That is why I offer no-charge consultations, so we can establish this when we first speak. Following both modern therapeutic methods as well as more global and Indigenous modalities, I guide others to un-cover what they come to know. During our sessions, as we discover more about you, this information informs me to choose the best approach/method that will guide you while you uncover your truth. The focus of the healing process is the restoration of relationships that have become out of balance. As a therapist, one is a supporter in a shared experience of learning and growing, with assessments usually being completed by the person being helped. I use questions, storytelling, humour, modelling, somatic modalities, parts therapy, and other proven methods to raise your awareness of your wholeness and interrelationships within life. When called, I use the healing power of hypnosis for connecting within ourselves: spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional. I use a two-eyed approach of both modern and Indigenous knowledge as much as possible during our sessions.
I work online with the exception of psychedelic assisted therapy, which is done either in one of my partner clinics, located in Calgary, Edmonton, London, and Toronto (Woodbridge and Vaughn), or at one of my partner retreat centres in Jamaica or the Netherlands.
In my private practice, I work one-to-one, in groups, and online with clients from all over the world, guiding others to un-cover possibilities and paths to life. In terms of my recognized titles, I am a Counselling Therapist with the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta, a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, and a Counselling Hypnotherapist. In terms of memberships, I am a Member of the Psychodynamic Association of Canada as well as the current Board President, a Senior Member of the ACCPH UK, a member of the Society for Shamanic Practice, and a Member of the Psychedelic Association of Canada. I am also a member of different committees and advisory boards when able, such as the MAPS Canada SAP Coop Committee.
When asked, I will step into being a helper during ritual, ceremony, or other. I am in gratitude to the Balinese and Cree knowledge keepers that have mentored me, guided me, and protected me as I learned what I can and cannot do. I do not presume to represent these lineages beyond permissions extended by my teachers. With respect and appreciation, I often gather on territory of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation, on traditional Coast Salish territory known as Greater Vancouver/Fraser Valley, on traditional Anishinaabe Algonquin territory known as the National Capital Region, and on the land of the Seminole in Florida. I also acknowledge the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge, laws, and philosophies of the Indigenous Peoples with whom I also share land with during my work. We are all people with a responsibility to honour all our relations, for all that we have as a result of so many sacrifices and hardships endured by those who came before us. I am amazed by the beauty and complexity that lies underneath the brain, and how subconscious behaviours drive our actions and thought process in order to help us feel better.
